Emma Winter

A BE accredited UKCC Level 3 Coach, international event rider and accomplished dressage competitor, Emma brings a rare combination of top‑level eventing experience and proven British Dressage success to her coaching at Wayfarer Eventing. Emma has represented Great Britain internationally and completed some of the world’s most prestigious events, including Kentucky CCI5* (15th & 19th) and Burghley CCI5* with clear cross‑country rounds.

Alongside her eventing achievements, Emma has built an impressive record in British Dressage, earning 394 BD points across the levels, with strong results from Preliminary through to Advanced Medium. This dual expertise makes Emma an exceptional coach for riders who want to focus on dressage, improve their test‑riding skills, or develop the quality of their flatwork as part of their eventing progression.

Emma is also a key figure within The Howden Way Young Horse Talent Pathway, where she works as a selector and coach, helping shape the next generation of British eventing talent. Her ability to develop horses correctly through the levels is reflected in her long history of producing young horses to the British Young Horse Championships, including Capitaine De Hus Z, whom she developed from a 4‑year‑old to CCI3* before his sale to an international rider.

A specialist in sourcing and producing young horses, Emma’s coaching is calm, structured and detail‑oriented. She excels at building confidence, improving rider feel, and helping combinations develop the correct foundations that lead to long‑term success. Whether working with grassroots riders, competitive amateurs, or young professionals, Emma’s depth of knowledge and supportive approach make her an exceptional coach for anyone wanting to refine their dressage or eventing performance.

Mike Winter

An internationally recognised event rider and BE accredited UKCC Level 3 Coach Mike brings over 25 years of elite eventing experience to his coaching at Wayfarer Eventing. A three‑time Olympian (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, Paris 2024) and multiple Pan American Games medallist — including Team Gold at Santiago 2023 — Mike has represented Canada at the highest level of the sport for more than two decades.

Mike has also competed at the FEI Eventing World Championships (2022) and has produced and competed horses from their very first backing sessions through to CCI5* level. His coaching is shaped by years spent working with leading professionals across Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Racing, giving him a uniquely holistic approach to training.

Alongside his competition career, Mike is deeply involved in the production of young horses, sourcing and developing talented prospects for owners in the UK and abroad. His ability to nurture confidence, understanding and correct foundations in young horses is a hallmark of his coaching and training philosophy.

Mike is also involved with The Howden Way, supporting the development of riders and horses within British Eventing’s talent pathways. His coaching is ideal for riders seeking technical clarity, strategic competition preparation, and a calm, confidence‑building environment informed by current top‑level experience.

Amelia Winter

A talented and ambitious young professional, Amelia Winter has been riding since the age of three and has progressed through Pony Club teams, the U18 Regional teams, Youth Development Programme representing GB  at Millstreet and into international competition.

She has a natural ability with young horses and has already established herself as a skilled producer, following in the footsteps of her parents, Mike and Emma.

Her current top ride, Wolk (Waffle), is a standout example of her talent for sourcing and developing young horses. Amelia has produced him carefully through the levels, achieving consistent international results, including a top‑three finish at Wellington CCI3*S (2024) and a strong performance at the Cornbury 3 7YO Championships*.

In 2025, Amelia and Wolk were selected to represent Great Britain at the European Cup, where they contributed to the GBR Team Gold Medal — a significant milestone in her developing career.

Amelia was part of The Howden Way Young Horse Talent Pathway in both 2024 & 2025, reflecting her growing reputation within eventing young horse production.

As a coach, Amelia works confidently with riders of all ages and abilities. She is particularly skilled at helping riders develop long‑term partnerships with their horses — her coaching style is fun, enthusiastic and encouraging, creating a positive environment where riders feel supported, motivated and able to progress.

Her approach mirrors the strengths of her parents — clear communication, strong foundations, and a deep understanding of horse development — combined with her own competitive drive and modern, progressive outlook.
