About Wayfarer Eventing

About Us

Following 15 years being based in the United States, Wayfarer Eventing UK  was founded by Mike and Emma Winter in 2009 at New Barn Farm in Chedworth, Nr Cirencester.

As a family run business producing and competing horses to 5* level eventing Mike and Emma extended their operation to providing world class training facilities which are open to the public 365 days a year.

With over 20 years experience Mike and Emma have been producing horses for themselves and owners alike for the purposes of sales and competition .

This talent and aspiration to be successful in this industry has also extended to their daughter Amelia who has also represented the U18 GB Team and selected for the GB Youth Development Squad .

Mike Winter

A native of Canada,  Mike has represented his country at international level on many occasions, including Olympic Games, Pan American Championships and FEI World Championships 2022.

His international success which began while based in the USA has carried over as he aims to reach new competitive heights here in the UK.

Starting with a group of quality young horses and now developing into a more international level string, Mike's focus continues to aim at international championships with horses owned by himself as well as a great group of owners.
Mike is an avid horseman who’s experience with horses and their confidence in learning and communication is as important to him as his many competitive accolades. Taking from his experience working in the horse industry for over 25 years, Mike credits his time working with many top Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping and Racing professionals with his approach to training all types and all levels of equine partners.

From the equally rewarding first experiences in the breaking in of young horses, to competing at the sports highest levels, including Olympic games, Mike has done it all and his passion for every stage is still apparent, when you can see him on the yard on any given day, long lining or backing a young horse, giving one its first jump or xc school, as well as fine tuning the skills of his string of FEI horses.

Mike welcomes new owners, sponsors and students to join on his journey to Paris 2024 and beyond. As well as offering international clinic dates.

Emma Winter

Emma represented Great Britain many times at International competitions whilst living in the Untied States . Her greatest accomplishments were with Mahogany Chief at Kentucky CCI**** where they finished 15th and 19th in 2005 & 2006. The pair also completed Burghley CCI**** in 2005 with another clear XC round.

After moving back to the UK in 2009 to focus on a smaller business model producing young horses Emma had competitive success taking her to the 2012 British Young Horse 7YO Championships on Arlando jumping double clear in the CCI 2* after which he was purchased by olympic rider,  Aoife Clarke who competed him to CCI 3* level.

Emma now focuses her time on producing a string of young horses at Wayfarer Eventing and with her excellent attention to detail she has gained some impressive results.
Emma successfully produced Capitaine De Hus Z who progressed up the levels from a 4YO.  In 2018 they competed at Millstreet CCI 1* jumping double clear to finish 12th and in 2019 completed Osberton Young Horse CCI3*S before his sale to an International rider in 2021.

Alongside competing her own horses  Emma specialises in the all round education of young horses for private owners.  The excellent facilities Wayfarer Eventing offers ensures the right preparation environment for exposure ahead of competition and production either through long or short term training livery.
