2010 June

After Hambledon, Olivia & Emma headed up to Brigstock International where Olivia & Stellor King had a wonderful result in the CIC* finishing 3rd after a great dressage of 45, clear XC & one of only a few clear show jumping rounds. Emma took Arlando in the BE100 and finished 8th with another double clear. Both Sarah & Olivia moved up to Intermediate at their next event; Pontispool. They both did a great test and jumped around the XC faultlessly finishing just out of the top 10 ... a great way to finish their event season here, as they head back to the States after being with us for a year training. They will be representing Area III at the North American Young Rider Championships this summer.

Mike has another new ride in Dassett Courage, a lovely 6-year-old owned by Kate Rocher that Mike also took to Pontispool for it's first Novice, where he finished 2nd with a good dressage of 29. They will aim him towards the 6 year old Champs at Le Lion, France. Mike also took Manolito in the BE100 again before his move up to Novice at Great Tew. Kathryn has been continuing to gear up for her first CCI* with Leeside Milestone, they are aiming towards Glanusk at the beginning of July.

2010 May

As usual we started the event season full on with Mike heading to Tweseldown for the OI with Unsteelable where they picked up a 6th place. The next weekend Kathryn, Olivia & Sarah all completed the Novice at Aldon in the deep mud & pouring rain. Then on to Gatcombe the following weekend where Olivia and Sarah were 7th & 8th in the Novice against stiff competition, while Kathryn completed another clear XC.

Mike & Untseelable continued their form with a 7th place in th OI. April saw Mike head to Burnham Market for Unsteelables' first Advanced. The girls all went to Larkhill where they had great results. Olivia notched up her first win on Stellor King at this level, and Kathryn finished 4th in only her 3rd event with Leeside Milestone at this level. Sarah was just out of the prizes with some time on XC. Two weeks later Kathryn finished the JRN division at Withington Manor with an 8th place and Sarah just missed out with some time.

Hambledon was this past weekend where we had a full load going down. All three girls were in the CIC*, and Mike took a new ride for Cath Stevens; Manolito in the BE100 where they finished on their dressage score.

Emma took her Arlando to his second event in the BE100 also, where they finished 9th with 25 on the flat & double clear. Jane Lanyon was very competitive on Bagheera Bay in her division also finishing on her dressage score which left her in 6th place.

We have really been lucky with the weather at all the most recent events, eventing in beautiful sunshine is something we were used to in The States but weren't sure we would encounter here!! The two four-year-olds have been progressing well, show jumping locally & xc schooling with Amelia & Donny! They will be aimed towards the 4-year-old classes this summer & will start at West Wilts next month.

On another note, we were sad to see Unsteelable sold this week. After 5 years with us he has been a fabulously competitive horse & a great partner for Mike. His owner, Jim Walker has been a wonderful owner and friend. Steele will continue his career with Oliver Townend, and we will be watching closely!

  • We have all been busy since the holidays in preparation for the upcoming event season with evening show jumping and now the BE JAS series. Our most recent outing took us to West Wilts, where Arlando & Emma won their class, Sarah & Urlanmore Beauty were 6th & Olivia & Stellor King were 8th in their class. Mike had competed the previous weekend with Unsteelable at Hartpury, were they finished 7th in the Open class. So all the horses qualified for the Finals at the end of the month, and then we will be off to Twesledown mid march to start our long event season!
  • We are very excited about this year with the girls headed for their Three-Days, Arlando will begin his event career which is looking bright as he has all the makings of a top level horse. The 4-year olds King Lear & Patrickswell Cooley will be out in June to do their baby events, and Unsteelable is aiming towards Bramham CCI***, a step closer to the goal of London 2012.
  • As advertised on the site, Unsteelable is currently for sale, so to maintain the ride through to London, Mike is looking for a second owner to join long-term supporter & owner Jim Walker .
  • We have a new addition joining us from the States at the end of the month; Dr. Kim Keeton is moving over to spend a year working for Willesley Vet practice, and is bringing her Intermediate horse Wade and Tay to train with us & work towards moving up the levels. Plus...a great group of new students is now at our farm and they have good competitve goals for this year. We are so fortunate that our location makes all levels of competition very accessible to us, with 40 different events on our calender this year!

19 Nov 2009 *Update* Mike and Emma went horse shopping & hunting in Ireland for four days with great success! They bought two gorgeous, very well bred young Irish horses that will be aimed towards the breed classes next year in the U.K.

We had a good end to our season here with Mike finishing 11th at Weston Park in the CCI** aboard Unsteelable, he has been very competitive since arriving in the U.K. and looks set for the move up to the Advanced level in the New Year . Sarah Kamensky had a great result at Aldon CCI* finishing 9th with her lovely Irish horse Urlanmore Beauty, and Top Placed Young Rider. Olivia Kamensky also completed the CCI* with Stellor King having one of only a few clear show jumping rounds on the final day. Kathryn Dunlap finished out her event season with Leeside Milestone winning some money at Broadway!

Emma's 4 yo Arlando is really coming along well, and went on his first outing to show jump school (see footage). He will be more than ready to make his eventing debut at the beginning of next season.

Amelia has been working hard with her pony and spent almost everyday over the half term at a Pony Club rally. She has recently joined the Cotswold Hunt P.C. and is absolutely loving it...however having a grey pony means lots of bathing before each lesson!

Both Mike & Emma would like to congratulate all our Wayfarer Students from the U.S. on their amazing Autumn results! Kim Keeton won the USEA 4-year old Young Event Horse Champs at Fair Hill aboard her own & Hope Thomas' gorgeous stallion Accolade. Mary-Bess Sigman finished 7th at Fairhill in the CCI** with Guiness, and Kerry Tracey won the USEA Training Level 3-Day Event in FL with her own Chasing the Music. There have been countless other wins and great placings all year from everyone, so keep up the good work! We look forward to seeing all your super results!!

So we are now spending our weekends show jumping and will soon start dressage shows too (in between Pony Club of course!). With the BE JAS series starting mid-January and the Event season beginning again in March, we really have only had a short break from competing--which is how we like it!

2009 October

We have all setteled in well at our new yard. The horses are happy and the facility is perfect for preparing everyone for competitions. We started out at Highclere Castle, with all three girls in the BE100 for their first out in the U.K. It was a good experience for them as they had never competed at a One Day Event & found it a little overwhelming the first time! Sarah & Olivia Kamensky show great promise with their new horses Urlanmore Beauty( Ricky) & Stellor King (Charlie). Kathryn Dunlap continues toestablish a super partnership with her lovely horse Leeside Milestone (BFG) and Emma's old advanced horse Mahogany Chief (Mo). They have all, since Highclere, competed almost every weekend and had good results at Novice (U.S. Prelim) level in huge divisions against big name pros!!

The twins are headed to Aldon CCI* to finish out their season of eventing, and Kathryn will continue to gain more experience with Mo & move BFG up to Novice at her next event.

Mike and Jim Walker's Unsteelable are continuing to prove their competitiveness since arriving in the country with a 3rd place in the OI at Pontispool and 8th at Gatcombe, jumpimg double clean rounds everywhere. They head to Weston Park CCI** for their end of season 3 Day. Mike also competed BFG at his first Novice at Morton Morrell for Kathryn, and finished on his dressage score which was good enough for a third place ribbon.

Even though the Eventing season is drawing to a close we will look forward to tuning up our show jumping & dressage skills with weekly indoor competitions through the winter, and bringing on the young sales horses.

2009 August

Great Results were had at the last two competitions in the US for Wayfarer. We stayed local in June for Poplar Place, then headed up to Kentucky for Champagne Run the beginning of July. Dani Dichting won both times out there great partner Tops, continuing to prove herself a consistent competitor. Felicia Bradley, our other working student, took both her horses out - Irish Dreams was back competing at the Prelim Level, and although going slowly, she was happy to have him back at that level. Felicia also competed her lovely new horse, Garryndruig Albie, in the Novice to place a respectable 4th and 8th at his first 2 events.

The Kamensky twins both did very well at Poplar, with Olivia placing 2nd behind Dani in the OP aboard her own Maguire, and Sarah bringing home a 3rd place in the BN on Bella Regazza, a catch ride for that weekend.

Kathryn Dunlap continues to gain mileage on the older 4* horse Mahogany Chief at the Prelim level, and looked like a pro in KY on the XC, she is also solidifying her relationship with Leeside Milestone with 8th & 5th place standings at both events. Tawn Edwards has moved her homebred mare Luna up to Training and was thrilled with her 4th place at Poplar, she then headed north for the month of July to rack up some more excellent standings at that level.

Jenny Caras moved up to the Training level in KY with her newly acquired mount Raku, where she won the TR on her dressage score of 24. We expect to see more of that from those two!!

Christine Brown and Rivella are getting ready to move up to the Intermediate level and had a great run in KY to finish 4th in the IP. Amanda Messingale took over the ride on Sasa Bickerstaff's horse Captain Arias while Sasa is pregnant, and did a great job finishing 2nd at Poplar in the Novice. Kayla Diehl has had her lovely mare On The Rocks at Wayfarer all summer, and her hard work showed when she finished 7th at their first Prelim.

Kim Keeton took Hope Thomas' lovely 4 yo Stallion Accolade to his first event in KY, and he proved his quality by finishing 2nd and acted like a perfect Gent all weekend! Jorja Miller was also competing at her first event in KY with her new mount Royal Achiever in the BN. Emma campaigned the super little horse, Lion's Reserve for the Holdbrooks at both events, finishing 6th in the TH at Poplar and 10th in the OP at Champagne Run. Plus, Devon Brown and Dynamic Image represented Area III at the NAYRC this year and had a fabulous result finishing 6th overall in the CCI*.

* * *

As many of you are aware, we are now in the process of moving Wayfarer Eventing to the U. K. It was a difficult decision to make such a considerable move, but one we felt we needed to do to in order to continue our education as riders.

With access to high profile competitions on a weekly basis and some of the world's best trainers, we hope to broaden our knowledge, improve our skills and gain more international experience. We plan to downsize to a number of horses that makes it possible to spend more time together as a family now that we have both Lilly and Amelia.

Emma, of course will still focus on producing quality young horses and riders, and Mike will be looking to produce a string of horses for the next Olympics. We will continue to teach and coach people through the levels as we enjoy so much being a part of their learning and success.

We have been given so many wonderful opportunities by so many kind supporters, and we are grateful to each and every one of them; they have been with us for many years and have been an important part of our life. It has been very hard to say goodbye. However, we will continue our friendships and business relationships from different continents, and as requested, will travel back to the States on a regular basis to teach and hold clinics. Thanks to everyone that has touched our lives over the years.

2009 May

Despite the torrential downpour at Chattahoochee Hills this past weekend Wayfarer had several top placings.
Most notably was Mike's win in the CIC** on Jim Walker's fabulous horse, Unsteelable. He is really proving to be a world class performer.

In the Area III Prelim Rider Champs Devon Brown won on her lovely ISH Dynamic Image and her mother Donna Miller was 2nd in the same division on her Connemara Stallion ArdCelticArt. Kim Keeton completed the OI in 2nd place with her young TB Wade and Tay. This was his first outing at this level. Felicia Bradley placed 4th in the OT on Irish Dreams. Ann McQuilken finished 3rd in the NR Championship class on My Boy Sam and Jenny Caras was 3rd on her mare Promised Day in the JNR Champs. Sonja Cooper took home a 4th place ribbon in the BN Champs on Legal Precedent. Next event for us will be Poplar Place in June to finish up the season!

* * *

Wayfarer had another great weekend of competition, this time at Poplar Place Farm.

Annie Aul won the Open Training on her lovely Irish horse Aron, finishing on her dressage score of 25. We found Aron last year in England and Annie has brought home ribbons from every event!

Another winning combination was Kathryn Dunlap on the very consistent young ISH Leeside Milestone who took home the blue ribbon in JT. We found this horse in Ireland 2 years ago as a 5 year old and he has proven himself as a very good competitor! Kathryn was also 5th on Emma's ex 4* partner Mahogany Chief in the same division.
Emma took Christy Edwards homebred Skyes the Limit to his second Training where he finished 3rd after scoring a 28 in the dressage. He already rides like an old pro, making light of the challenging XC course and will move up the levels quickly.

Emma also rode Michelle Parkinson's Cotswolds Banoffee to eighth in the Novice. Tawn Edwards won the Open Novice section on her sweet mare Luna and Ann McQuillken was 6th in the same division.
Wayfarer working student Felicia Bradley had her 1* horse Irish Dreams out for the first time (since recovering from an injury) and they were 7th in the OT.

2009 April

Big congratulations to everyone that went to Chatt Hills this past weekend!

Emma won the Training Horse division on Christy Edwards' homebred Trakehner Skyes The Limit. It was his first time at this level and finished on his dressage score against tough competition.

Mike again had two in the top 10 in the Open Intermediate; Unsteelable, owned by Jim Walker, continues to prove his class and consistency at this level by placing 2nd, and Karen Hudson's TB Raku finished 6th in his second outing at this level. They will both come back to Chatt Hills next month to contest the CIC**. Mike also took home 4th in the TH division on the Schwartz's mare Roxie Rococco

Wayfarer Working Student Dani Dichting had a great run on her lovely ISH Tops to finish 7th in the Open Intermediate section; a great result as she is only 19! She also collected a 5th place ribbon on Brianna in the TH division .

Mary Bess Sigman finished two horses in the top 10 in the OP, Kim Keeton was 3rd in the PR, Annie Aul placed 2nd in the OT, Lauren Lacefield finished 4th in TR, Kerry Tracey was 3rd in the TR, Jenny Caras placed 5th in NR, and Tawn Edwards finished 3rd in ON! Super job everyone, keep up the good work!!!
